TRAFFIC JAM

Be Heard – Projection and Diction

(The aim of this Chorus scene is to build up a picture of a city traffic jam. As more and more people get caught in the traffic, the scene should become louder. At the front of the traffic jam is an old codger, happily snoring away with his car parked in the middle of the road)

Chorus: Before the sun rises and shows its golden head,
The city folk are waking up and getting out of bed.
They stumble to the garage and hop into their cars,
Or sit astride their motorbikes and grip the handlebars.
They turn the key,
Cars & Bikes: Errr, Errr, Errr, Vroom!
Chorus: And rev the car.
Cars & Bikes: Vroom, vroom, vroom.
Chorus: Put on the indicator.
Cars & Bikes: Blink, blink. Blink, blink. Blink, blink.
Chorus: Turn onto the freeway and press the accelerator.
Cars & Bikes: Vrooooooooooooooom!
Chorus: They scream around the corner, then on the brakes they slam
Cars & Bikes: Screech!
Chorus: Cars bumper to bumper in a city traffic jam!
Cars & Bikes: Toot, toot. Beep, beep…

Royalty - unlimited number of performances for 12 months

• Roll Tape
• Neighbourhood Watch
• Traffic Jam

Number of Parts: 10-30
Duration: 15 minutes

Road safety is like performing – you have to make sure you can be seen, be alert when you're on the stage/road & test out the volume of your horn when you're in a jam. This playlet looks at why the chicken crossed the road and the impact of Volvo drivers on traffic volume (literally!)

Number of Parts: 10-30
Duration: 15 minutes

Looking at old movies, 'Roll Tape' has all of the stereotypes (villain, action hero, comic sidekick) in 'Be Someone Else', the silent screen of the 'Be Seen' and the development of the 'talkie' ('Be Heard')

Number of Parts: 10-30
Duration: 15 minutes

Little Billy keeps the whole street awake in 'Be Heard', a burglar tries not to 'Be Seen', and Joe Blow holds a street party in which all sorts of alliterative characters gate-crash

AU$88 (inc GST) includes Photocopy & Performance Rights to perform all three plays within an educational context
