'WHAT
A PERFORMANCE'
Scene
– in a Theatre
(The Actors push the Playwrights out of the way and take centre
stage)
Actors: We play these classic people.
In role play we immerse.
We take our bows politely, (They bow)
And then we all disperse. (They run in a small circle and reassemble
CS)
I say, we are the actors! We struggle to rehearse,
With our articulation of rhyming and blank verse.
We stand with legs akimbo. Our kissing lips we purse.
Raised arms in acclamation!
Critics: The acting can't get worse!
Actors: I am serious actor. My countenance is terse.
I am a tragedian. We all die. Call the hearse.
I am the comic actor, with joking to converse.
I am the villain actor. My presence is a curse.
