'WHAT
A TRICK'
Scene
– on a Magician’s stage
Chorus: Alakazam and abracadabra
With nothing up my sleeve
With a wave of my magic wand
I’ll make you all believe
Hey presto – we’re magicians!
We’ll hypnotise and tantalise
How we do it – no one knows
And now before your very eyes
It’s our amazing magic show!
Itchy: We were going to do a trick for you
Scratchy: Pull a rabbit from my hat
Itchy: But the RSPCA didn’t like the idea
And that was the end of that.
Scratchy: So we’ve worked out a new act for you
Itchy: I got the idea from my cat
Itchy & Scratchy: We’ve got a small flea
circus but
We’re keeping it under our hat
(The Escapologist comes forward in his straight jacket – just
a white jumper with the arms tied behind his/her back)
Escapologist: I am the escapologist – like the
great Houdini before me
Chain me with locks, cuff me in stocks – without even a key I’ll
be free.
I can escape from anything – lock me in a safe and I’ll
crack it!
And now, right here before your eyes, I’ll escape from this fastened
straight jacket.
(The Escapologist struggles… and struggles… and still
struggles…)
Almost there… Just go on with the next act… I won’t
be long…
