'WHAT A VOICE'

Scene – on a stage somewhere

Chorus: There's more to Music Theatre
Than belting out a tune.
It takes a lot of training
Or you'll look like a buffoon.
There's natural ability
Which gives a small head-start.
Then scales, breathing, diaphragm
Before you become Mozart.
You learn articulation,
The notes and pitch exact
And finally – after all this
You have to learn to act!
It's practise, practise, practise
Combining all these things
But remember it's not over
Until the fat lady sings.
Fat Lady: (She begins to sing but is cut off by the Chorus) Lahhh…
Chorus: Not yet!…

What A Voice
The basic message of this play is that there is more to Musical Theatre than just singing - you have to act with attitude. We meet three tenors, a prima-donna soprano (complete with frazzled assistants) and a rotundo basso profundo. It's all over when the fat lady sings... if they can find her again!
