(Squiff – the mime – arrives back in a panic.)

Fran: Oh look it's that funny mute fellow again.
Squiff: (The cast form a semicircle around him. Squiff motions that an old woman swallowed a fly. The others, like in a game of charades, gradually guess what he's trying to say.)
Mrs Naughton: What's he saying?
Mr Naughton: It appears something has happened over there, by the livestock stalls.
Trevor: Something about an old woman…
Harry: Who swallowed….
Olaf: An aeroplane?
Attila: A fly man.
Horace: I don't know why she swallowed a fly.
Boris: Perhaps she'll die?
(Jimmy enters crying)
Jimmy: Whaa! Fluffy, somebody ate Fluffy.
Smiggins: There was an old woman who swallowed a spider?
Squiff: (Tickles his tummy)
Seamus: It wriggled…
Bill: …and jiggled…
Eartha: …and tickled inside her. How do you know?
Squiff: (Mimes laughing)
Jimmy: See. I told you he wasn't poisonous.
Fran: But why swallow a spider?
Mort: She swallowed the spider to catch the fly. I don't know why she swallowed a fly.
Jimmy: Perhaps she'll die.
Mr & Mrs Naughton: Jimmy! Go to the car!

Fairground

In the grounds of the Yakandandah Show, an old woman swallows a fly, a tarantula, a chook, a cat, a dog…Meanwhile, Police Constable Smiggins is attempting to track down his arch nemesis – 'The Mouth', food felon and master of disguise. Each character, from the hippy tofu burger vendor to the old ladies of Women's Guild, provides the opportunity for larger than life characters.
