'AND
THE WINNER IS...'
Scene
– at the Academy Awards
Karl: Well it's Hollywood's 'Night of Nights' and we're
here live on the red carpet. Any hot tips for us Claudia?
Claudia: Well Karl, it seems that it's too close to
call as to who will win best picture. The three nominated films are
all equally deserving but I guess that my favourite would be the offbeat
comedy 'That's My Monkey'. Bernard?
Bernard: A great film – who could forget the
scene with the detective and the remote controlled banana? But my money
is on the heart-warming drama of 'Sink'.
(The 'Nest of Vipers' cast make their way down the red carpet)
Claudia: Of course, then there's the dark horse of
the evening, the mystery thriller 'Nest of Vipers'…
Karl: Speaking of a 'Nest of Vipers', here comes the
cast and its writer-director, Newstig Holmarjè. Karl Modèl
from 'On Set' News. This is your first nomination as either a writer
or director – how does it feel?
Newstig: I don't care if I win or not. Award ceremonies
like this are only here to increase box-office sales. I did not make
this film to be seen. In fact I encourage the audience to see it with
their eyes closed.
Karl: Well, why did you make it?
Newstig: I made it because it had to be made –
a story like this one was going to tell itself. I was just its corporeal
conduit. Now leave me.
(The scene switches to Karl and Arnie. Arnie is followed by Wally,
Wanda, Bill and Dungle.)
Karl: It's Austrian all-action hero Arnie Strudel-Myster
– Arnie, how do you feel you'll go tonight?
Arnie: (In an Arnie-accent) It'll be tough.
I have lots of competition here tonight but hopefully we blew enough
things up in the film to win.
(Over to Claudia and Dungle)
Claudia: And while on the subject of things exploding
onto the screen, I'm here with 'That's My Monkey' writer – Dungle
Mee. Dungle, what made you write such an offbeat comedy?
Dungle: I keep telling people, it's not offbeat and
it's not a comedy – it's a serious script about how modern humanity
mistreats our primate cousins. It's a cry for help on behalf of Mother-Earth
and all her creatures.
(Everyone pauses for a second and then laughs)
Claudia: You almost had us there.
Dungle: But I'm serious!
Claudia: Ever the comic genius.
